Dear Friends and Dreamcatcher supporters - who mean so much to myself and our Kamammas, Boetis and Kids and communities,
Today I feel vindicated, proud, humble and relieved that my vision and work which you shared so gracefully and supported me in so much and that I have not been barking up the wrong tourism and sustainability tree over years in South Africa....
I share with pride that I have just heard that due to the work I have dedicated myself to for the past over 2 decades and nominations globally, I have the honour of winning the award for Women in Tourism Leadership and another award as Sustainability Champion which was mentioned to be a VERY important award before it was apparently announced, at the African Tourism Leadership Forum Conference in Kigali, Rwanda today.
I am deeply honoured and humbled and want to dedicate this to the Fallen Kamammas and Brothers, who passed away as Dreamcatcher enterprises, Kleaving their Homestay, CookUp Kamamma or tourism service to their children. They said to me before they passed on - it changed their lives. Engaging with them and with the current group of growing tourism enterprises - changed my life from the moment I recruited them way back of which the first in 1998. and on our fun filled, scary times and good times, where every step forward as pioneers in tourism and sustainable futures, was an encounter, forever. 😀
What all of this means - is that I bring you flowers, gratitude and lots of smiles and laughter and big plates of Kamamma food and hospitality from all the Dreamcatchers, 😊
Furthermore that we can tread with pride and without barriers broaching the boundaries to help inform the future of sustainable tourism globally and especially into South Africa and to walk inward north into Africa, knowing that our mindset, expertise gained and lessons learned could have the potential to inspire and escalate the alleviation of poverty, inclusivity, equality and wellness for the people in their environment. Its possible.
With sincerest regards and thank you beyond measure...
Anthea, The Dreamcatcher Kamammas, Boetis and Youth.
